Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Commissioning Specialist to join our team at BAE Systems.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of the largest and most complex engineering programmes in the UK, contributing to the development of cutting-edge submarines. As a key member of our commissioning team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and successful operation of our mechanical systems.
About the Role:
As a Mechanical Commissioning Specialist, you will be responsible for leading test and commissioning activities, de-conflicting tasks, briefing teams, and overseeing work. You will also provide guidance and support to less experienced engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and skills development within the team.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Lead test and commissioning activities, ensuring that all tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Deputise for relevant Commissioning Project Leader as required, including supervision of personnel on shift.
- Responsible for safe plant operation, maintaining awareness of plant state and consequences of activities.
- Responsible for self-development and attending any mandatory training requirements.
- Liaise/Interface with relevant stakeholders to ensure activities are undertaken in a safe and compliant manner.
- Instruct and mentor less experienced members of the team with your knowledge and competency.
- Responsible for research, review, and feedback of appropriate documentation to the required standard.
Your Skills and Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Experience of Commissioning or maintaining mechanical systems in a highly regulated industry (Oil, Gas or Nuclear).
- Experience of working to high levels of detail, recording, and reviewing results.
- Knowledge of using test equipment and activities required for specific tests.
- Understanding of the role and how the T&C contributes to the wider business and UK enterprise.
- Knowledge of safety controls and procedures in a high-risk environment.
- Experience working with high-pressure systems.
- Ability to understand complex Mechanical Systems (Drawings, diagrams, and procedures).
- Awareness of Nuclear Site/Autorisation Conditions.
