About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Highways Estimator to join our team at Telent Technology Limited. As a key member of our Highways division, you will be responsible for producing and completing cost models for a broad range of tenders across the highways sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimating and Costing: Utilize your expertise and skill sets to produce and complete cost models, aligned to customer requirements, including NEC cost component principles, covering the scope of roadside technology and communications systems maintenance and upgrade works, and associated civils works such as trenching, ducting, chambers, and cabinet installation required to enable technology installation.
  • Commercial Risk Management: Manage commercial risks and liabilities, ensuring that our company's interests are protected.
  • Business Development: Identify opportunities and additional revenue from customers, either through contract variations or new orders.
  • Opportunity Monitoring: Monitor the progress of opportunities, ensuring that we are well-positioned to capitalize on new business.
  • Technical Expertise: Possess previous experience of working in a similar estimating role, working on technology or communication projects in a Highways-focused business.
  • Costing from First Principles: Ability to cost from first principles technology maintenance, installation, and commissioning services for highways projects, including interpretation of technical and communication drawings, cabling schematic diagrams, or specifications, and validation of Bills of Quantities, etc.
  • Technical Knowledge: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, and in particular, strong Excel skills.
  • Highways Sector Knowledge: Good understanding and knowledge of Highways sector specifications and pricing schedules, including 1500 series works (Motorway Communications).
  • NEC Contract Models: Good understanding of NEC contract models and costing methodologies.
