Senior Buyer - Food Category

Rise Resourcing is seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our client, a leading food and FMCG retailer and wholesaler in the North West of England. As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for overseeing Category Strategy for a key food category, effectively sourcing and negotiating the optimum cost price with suppliers.

With Buying/Trading experience in the Food Wholesale or Retail sector, you will have complete freedom and autonomy to manage your category from top to bottom. You will have a proven track record of building strong relationships with suppliers and implementing the category strategy to maximise sales.

You will be accountable for margin and profitability, minimising waste and staying one step ahead of competitors via innovation. You will prioritise customer needs and have outstanding negotiation skills along with strong commercial acumen.

The successful applicant will be paid a competitive salary up to £60,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Category Strategy to maximise sales and profitability
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure the optimum cost price
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
  • Manage category from top to bottom, including inventory management and logistics
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends and competitor activity

Requirements:

  • Buying/Trading experience in the Food Wholesale or Retail sector
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships with suppliers
  • Strong negotiation and commercial acumen skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage category from top to bottom
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
