Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Lead Cancer Nurse to join our Corporate Nursing Team, supporting the Director of Cancer and Palliative Care Nursing while leading on specialist palliative care nursing agenda. The role will also encompass cancer patient experience and patient and public involvement across all four hospitals in the Barts Health Group.

The successful candidate will have a track record in leadership and specialist area, with experience in teaching and audit. They will be able to work at a strategic level to influence and support palliative and end-of-life care, ensuring current practice and leading changes.

Main Responsibilities
  1. To lead on specialist palliative care nursing agenda and support the Director of Cancer and Palliative Care Nursing
  2. To work closely with education academy and city university for wider education and audit purposes
  3. To ensure that practice remains current and leading any necessary changes

The post holder will be based at the Royal London Hospital but expected to have a presence in all hospitals, requiring excellent time management and collaboration skills with various staff disciplines.

Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years operational management experience in acute trust or hospice at band 7 or above
  • Experience in cancer/palliative care within an acute Trust
  • Informal and formal teaching experience

An estimated salary range for this position is £65,000 - £85,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
