Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) diagnostic team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse with extensive experience in cancer care and oncology to take on a leadership role in delivering high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert clinical advice, emotional support, and managing their own caseload of cancer patients and their pathway of care. They will champion and deliver NHSE Cancer Personalised Care standards, ensuring issues associated with patients' experiences are visible to the MDT and prioritized for service improvement.

Main Responsibilities
  • Fully comply with the trust Cancer CNS Standard Operational Policy and work towards meeting cancer nursing ACCEND framework competency.
  • Assist in the delivery of an expert specialist nursing service for people with suspected cancer, providing specialist nursing advice, clinical assessment, and support to patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis.
  • Ensure continuity of high-standard evidence-based nursing care.
  • Initiate and interpret tests and investigations used in cancer treatments, ongoing monitoring, and late effects care.
Requirements
  • NMC Level 1 Registered Nurse
  • Breaking Bad News Training
  • Understanding of clinical governance and risk assessment
  • Level 2 psychological skills
