Role Overview:

We are seeking a Principal/Associate Technical Director with a strong track record of leading environmental and consenting aspects of projects, particularly in the Design and Build Sector. As part of our Environmental Planning team, you will help improve quality of life by applying your expertise in environmental management, technical, or sustainability fields.

Our work involves protected species, pollution, surface water, and materials management, air quality, or noise. You will work on a diverse range of projects, including large-scale energy and infrastructure, rail, highways, water, and mixed-use development schemes for private and public clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the coordination and delivery of planning and environmental work, influencing project development and delivering optimal outcomes.
  • Develop business opportunities and lead project delivery to build our portfolio in the D&B Sector.
  • Raise awareness of our services, winning new opportunities, and building new contacts.
  • Engage with consultees and stakeholders, managing projects, and overseeing performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety.
  • Work closely with existing and established Arcadis colleagues across our Global Business.

Requirements:

  • Excellent working knowledge of environmental and consenting processes, including EIA practices and procedures, and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles.
  • Strong experience of working with Contractors and influencing sustainability through design.
  • Experience across a range of project types, including large-scale energy and infrastructure, rail, highways, water, and mixed-use development schemes.
  • Strong report writing, verbal, and presentation skills, with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary coordination and leadership of projects, with good project management and technical skills.
  • Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management, and quality assurance.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards.
  • A flexible, pragmatic, and collaborative approach to work.
