Role Overview:
We are seeking a Technical Director with a strong track record of leading environmental and consenting aspects of projects, particularly in building and growing teams. This role is ideal for someone passionate about integrating environmental input within the planning process, with a Chartered Town Planner qualification.
As part of our Environmental team, you will contribute to improving quality of life by applying your expertise in environmental management, technical, or sustainability fields. Your work may involve protected species, pollution, surface water, and materials management, air quality, or noise, in some of the world's busiest and most beautiful locations.
We work to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations. Climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity are pressing issues we address through our work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on diverse projects, including large-scale energy and infrastructure, rail, highways, water, and defence projects, as well as mixed-use development schemes for private and public clients.
- Drive technical excellence and promote a flexible, collaborative environment supported by digital innovation.
- Play a key role in the successful delivery of multidisciplinary projects across the UK and worldwide.
- Lead on the coordination and delivery of planning and environmental work undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams.
- Support business development activities through participation in external market profile raising activities and functions.
- Engage with consultees and stakeholders.
- Manage projects, overseeing performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety.
Requirements:
- Excellent working knowledge of the UK Planning system and consenting process, including EIA practices and procedures.
- Experience across a range of project types.
- Strong report writing, verbal, and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary coordination and leadership of projects, with good project management and technical skills.
- Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management, and quality assurance.
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards.
- A flexible, pragmatic, and collaborative approach to work.
