We are a global team of experts dedicated to improving quality of life. Our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Technical Director with a strong track record of leading the environmental and consenting aspects of projects.

This role suits someone who is passionate about the integration of environmental input within the Planning process. As a Chartered Town Planner, you will form part of the leadership for the Planning and Environmental Assessment and Management (PEAM) Team.

As part of our Environmental team, you will help improve quality of life. With your specialism in environmental management, or your technical or sustainability expertise, your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise.

We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. Our team is dedicated to addressing the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working on a diverse range of projects, including large-scale energy and infrastructure, rail, highways, water, and defence projects.
  • Leading on the coordination and delivery of planning / environmental work being undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Supporting business development activities through participation in external market profile raising activities and functions.
  • Raising awareness of our services and winning new opportunities.
  • Actively engaging in key client relationships and leading by example.
  • Engaging with consultees and stakeholders.
  • Managing projects and overseeing our performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety.

Requirements:

  • Excellent working knowledge of the UK Planning system and consenting process.
  • Experience across a range of project types.
  • Strong report writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary co-ordination and leadership of projects.
  • Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management, and quality assurance.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards.
  • A flexible, pragmatic, and collaborative approach to work.
