Job Title: Theatre Scrub Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Theatre Scrub Practitioner to join our team at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position, working 13 shifts per 4-week period. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, including nights, and must be flexible and able to work across the 4-week roster.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality perioperative care to patients, based on a sound evidence base.
  • Provide skilled clinical assistance to the surgical, anaesthetic, and recovery teams.
  • Undertake and document comprehensive, systematic, and accurate perioperative care assessments of patients.
  • Lead a perioperative team to manage a group of patients throughout a shift.
  • Assist in the management of preceptorship of newly qualified staff, return to practice staff, and the mentorship of nursing/ODP students and healthcare support workers.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with a minimum of 12 months post-registration experience in the perioperative environment. You must have scrub experience within emergency specialties, including general, gynaecology, urology, and trauma, as well as recovery experience. You must also be a registered general nurse and/or registered operating department practitioner, with evidence of continuing professional development.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication and leadership skills, who is able to work under pressure and provide complex and sensitive information. You must be able to demonstrate clinical knowledge, skills, and expertise, and be able to motivate others.
