About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position, working 13 shifts per 4-week period. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, including nights, and must be flexible and able to work across the 4-week roster.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality perioperative care to patients, based on a sound evidence base.
  • Provide skilled clinical assistance to the surgical, anaesthetic, and recovery teams.
  • Undertake and document comprehensive, systematic, and accurate perioperative care assessments of patients.
  • Lead a perioperative team to manage a group of patients throughout a shift.
  • Assist in the management of preceptorship of newly qualified staff, return to practice staff, and the mentorship of nursing/ODP students and healthcare support workers.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with a minimum of 12 months post-registration experience in the perioperative environment. You must have scrub experience within emergency specialties, including general, gynaecology, urology, and trauma, as well as recovery experience. You must also be a registered general nurse and/or registered operating department practitioner, with evidence of continuing professional development.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and experience of using evidence-based practice. You must also be able to demonstrate clinical knowledge, skills, and expertise, and provide and receive complex and sensitive information.
