About the Role
Achieving for Children is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SEND Mediation and Tribunal Officer to join our Senior Leadership Team. As a key member of our SEND Team, you will be responsible for leading, managing, and engaging in mediation and tribunal processes, ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent Achieving for Children in informal and formal mediations with families, utilizing effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Represent the organization at SENDIST Tribunal Hearings, including preparatory work, and provide expert testimony as needed.
- Develop and implement creative solutions to overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Social Care, Health colleagues, and Education providers.
- Work closely with SENDIASS and other voluntary groups to address feedback and resolve local issues.
- Travel across Kingston and Richmond Boroughs to visit schools and other locations as needed.
About You
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with a strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice 2015, and the Care Act 2014. You will have excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation abilities, as well as highly developed presentational skills for legal case responses, letter writing, and correspondence.
