SEND Teaching Assistant Role Overview

Ribbons & Reeves are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs in a mainstream Primary School in Richmond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of the SENCO to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching of pupils with SEND.
  • Encourage the participation of pupils in the social and academic processes of the school and enable pupils to become more independent learners.
  • Support pupils with a range of additional and often complex SEND, including ADHD, ASC, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, speech language and communication needs, and resistant behaviour.

Requirements:

  • Strong attainment across GCSE and A-Level.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work and student behaviours.
  • Good understanding of the way children learn and previous knowledge of ASC and ADHD.
  • Good organisational skills and a positive, resilient mindset.
