About the Role

Achieving for Children is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SEND Mediation and Tribunal Officer to join our Senior Leadership Team. As a key member of our SEND Team, you will be responsible for leading, managing, and engaging in mediation and tribunal processes, ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent Achieving for Children in informal and formal mediations with families, using effective communication and negotiation skills to resolve disputes.
  • Represent the organization at SENDIST Tribunal Hearings, preparing thoroughly and presenting cases with confidence and expertise.
  • Provide solution-focused thinking and creativity to overcome challenges and find innovative solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including Social Care, Health colleagues, and Education providers.
  • Work closely with SENDIASS and other voluntary groups to address feedback and resolve local issues.
  • Travel across Kingston and Richmond Boroughs to visit schools and other locations as needed.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with a strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice 2015, and the Care Act 2014. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field is essential, and you will have significant experience in SEN, with a proven track record of success in mediation and tribunal work.
