Intellectual Property Expert

The NIHR Intellectual Property Unit is seeking a highly skilled Technology Transfer Manager to work across the NIHR portfolio, ensuring that NIHR funded intellectual property is identified, managed and translated by researchers to produce impactful outcomes.
This role will involve working with the Assistant Director - IP and Commercial and other members of the IP Unit to plan and deliver the NIHR IP work plan. Key responsibilities include managing routine processes, providing information to an agreed timetable, and managing the training calendar.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting NIHR staff members to resolve IP-related queries, including running regular IP Open Sessions in various locations. You will also manage a portfolio of routine commercialisation cases on behalf of DHSC, maximising return on investment on NIHR-funded IP.
A competitive salary of £70,000 per annum reflects the senior nature of this position, which requires a proven track record in obtaining appropriate legal advice on intellectual property management issues. As a valuable member of the team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the IP Unit's processes and systems.
You will have a degree in a relevant subject or comparable professional experience, with detailed knowledge of life science research gained from working in a university, NHS Trust, company or charity. Your expertise in intellectual property management in the public and private sectors will enable you to generate impact from research, while your ability to analyse situations taking qualitative and quantitative factors into account will inform your decision-making.
We are looking for an individual who is able to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing, and who has excellent interpersonal skills and customer focus. You will be required to travel to various locations across England to provide support and advice, so a willingness to do so is essential.
