The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive Ophthalmic service and support the provision of an effective county-wide service.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide a paediatric service within Ophthalmology
* Proficiency in cataract surgery and a commitment to training
* On-call for Paeds is 24/7
* Carry out teaching duties as required
* Contribute to the teaching and training of nursing staff and other healthcare professionals

Person Specification:

* FRCOph or equivalent
* Completion of specialty training (or within 6 months of AAC)
* MD, PhD or other higher degree

Teaching and Audit:

* Experience of Audit
* Evidence of teaching Junior staff

Academic Achievements and Research:

* Specialist interest in a specialist area to complement the other consultants in the department
* Publications in recognised journals

Interpersonal Skills:

* Evidence of leadership
