Consultant Ophthalmologist – Special Interest in Paediatrics

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our team at Northampton General Hospital. As a key member of our specialist paediatric unit, you will provide a comprehensive ophthalmic service and support the provision of an effective county-wide service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a comprehensive ophthalmic service at Northampton General Hospital and support the provision of an effective county-wide service.
  • Lead and develop the ophthalmology service, working closely with the wider team to ensure seamless delivery of care.
  • Participate in research and clinical audit, contributing to the advancement of ophthalmic care and services.
  • Provide paediatric ophthalmic services, with a focus on delivering high-quality care to children and young people.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in cataract surgery, with a commitment to training and education.
  • Participate in teaching and training activities, including the education of ophthalmic trainees and nursing staff.
  • Contribute to the development of the department's clinical audit programme and participate in regional and national audits.
  • Report critical incidents and participate in departmental audit and clinical governance meetings.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to service development and innovation, generating revenue for the Trust through effective working practices.
