Chertsey, Surrey, United Kingdom Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

About the Role

Ashford and St. Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Patient Safety Advocate to support our transition to the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and our patient safety priorities.

The Patient Safety Advocate will play a key role in improving patient safety by becoming an integral part of the patient safety and quality team.

This is a fixed-term role for 2 years in the first instance with the opportunity to extend. The total time commitment initially for each Patient Safety Advocate is expected to be 1-2 full days per month, including preparation for and attendance at group meetings.

Membership of and attendance at the relevant meetings will mostly be held remotely via MS Teams, and other options are available for candidates who do not have IT access.

The Patient Safety Advocate will be actively involved in contributing to the design of safer healthcare at all levels of the organisation, talking with patients and staff about safety and what matters to them, advocating for patients, carers, and families, and ensuring that their perspectives and considerations are prioritised.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to safety governance by sitting on relevant committees, reviewing, and commenting on meeting papers and reports
  • Be involved in how safety issues should be addressed, providing feedback and challenge to enable us to learn and change as an organisation

About Us

Ashford and St. Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of more than 410,000 people living in North-West Surrey, parts of Hounslow and beyond.

We are committed to providing continuous professional development, staff benefits, and flexibility to shape our workforce around our patient care.

This is an exciting time to join our Trust, as we work on the expansion of our theatres at Ashford Hospital and move towards this becoming our dedicated elective centre.

We want to create a state-of-the-art centre for excellence for planned surgical procedures, with care delivered by dedicated, specialist teams in a modern and well-equipped environment.

We hope to use this centre to create an environment of learning and to facilitate training of the next generation of our skilled NHS workforce.
