About the Role

Hestia Housing Support is seeking a skilled Housing Management Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Finance team, you will play a crucial role in guiding service users towards a path of empowerment and independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an allocated patch of properties for housing management functions, ensuring the health and safety of the property, maintenance, and voids control are kept according to policy.
  • Collect and manage service users' rent/charges, avoiding arrears and debt management.
  • Liaise with partner Registered Providers to ensure adherence to Management Agreements.
  • Conduct agreement sign-ups and exit meetings with service users.
  • Manage service users' DWP, Revenue, and Benefits.
  • Work with the Rents team to establish new service users' rent accounts.
  • Support service users in applying for welfare benefits, including housing benefit and personal charge payments.
  • Undertake necessary legal action, including leading on the pre-action protocol.
  • Provide regular performance reports to your line Manager.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly building health and safety checks.
  • Oversee and follow up on reported repairs, ensuring timely action and maintaining records.
  • Work in partnership with support workers, Local Authorities, and referrers to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Develop a psychologically informed environment with support workers.
  • Maintain supportive and positive relationships with service users and colleagues.

Requirements

  • An in-depth understanding of all aspects of housing management.
  • DWP, revenue, and benefits legislation knowledge.
  • Rent collection and arrears recovery management, plus an understanding of the pre-action protocol.
  • An understanding of civil options for ensuring building safety.
  • Knowledge and experience of move-on options for people living in supported accommodation.
  • Computer literacy with the ability to use electronic recording systems.
  • A strong sense of accountability and ability to lone-manage time.
  • A high standard of written and spoken English.
  • Numerate with the ability to analyze and present financial data.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to work sensitively with service users and visit accommodation sites for meetings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of mental health issues, drug and alcohol dependency, and young persons' support.
