Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Nurse to lead our Paediatric Respiratory Service. The successful candidate will provide expert nursing leadership and care to children with respiratory conditions, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist nursing care to children with respiratory conditions, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of their condition.
  • Lead and manage the Paediatric Respiratory Service, ensuring that care is delivered in accordance with best practice and national guidelines.
  • Develop and implement care plans that meet the individual needs of children and their families.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care and communication.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote best practice in paediatric respiratory care.
Requirements
  • Registered Sick Children's Nurse with valid NMC Registration.
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level.
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
  • Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
  • Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification.
  • The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
  • Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Masters Degree in specialist area
  • Evidence of further education including Post Grad Certification,
  • Diploma continuous professional development in relevant areas.
  • Qualified paediatric/child branch nurse.
  • Experience working in the Community.
  • Evidence of personal/team research and audit
  • Demonstrate knowledge of locality and national Policy within speciality.
  • Expert clinic practice
  • Up to date with research and development for speciality
  • Demonstrate analytical and judgement skills
  • Competent in application of research based evidence in working practice
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining relationships.
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Evidence of training
  • Evidence of effective problem solving skills
  • IT and database management skills
  • Flexible and adaptable in responding to service needs in dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
  • Car Driver with full UK licence
  • Concentration when driving
  • Ability to carry clinical equipment eg monitoring equipment
  • Ability to carry non clinical equipment eg records, health promotion equipment, laptop & projector
