Tradewind Recruitment is working closely with a specialist secondary school in the Chorley area to find a dedicated and passionate teaching assistant to support the learning of a student with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH) on a 1:1 basis.
About the Role:The school provides a nurturing and restorative environment for pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education, offering a unique opportunity for students to rehabilitate and improve their behaviour and learning.
The successful applicant will work closely with a Year 11 student who requires 1:1 support to engage with their learning and overcome anxiety and mental health issues. The role will involve working on the school site in Chorley and at a gymnasium setting south of Chorley, requiring the successful candidate to have access to their own transport or be based locally in the South Ribble area and able to take public transport.
Requirements:- A passion for working with children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and a desire to contribute to their development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly on a 1:1 basis with KS4 students.
- Ability to establish a positive relationship with disengaged students and support them in achieving their goals.
- Relevant experience in a special educational needs or care setting supporting children with behavioural difficulties.
- Level 3 or 4 teaching assistant qualification is highly desirable, but transferable skills and experience supporting SEMH and challenging behaviour are acceptable.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
