About the Role

The Harris Academy Beckenham is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Premises Officer to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our premises, including grounds maintenance, security, cleaning, and maintenance.

Main Responsibilities
  • Grounds Maintenance: Ensure the upkeep of our grounds, including hard surface areas, paths, grass cutting, pruning, weeding, planting, and maintenance of sports pitches and other athletic facilities.
  • Security: Perform routine and non-routine opening of buildings and grounds, and serve as a keyholder for after-hours call-outs.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Carry out improvements and maintenance, and report any defects or issues.
  • Lettings: Ensure the premises are clean and in a satisfactory condition before and after lettings, and be present throughout the letting period.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure adequate measures are taken at all times, and report any breaches or defects.
  • Fire Precautions: Check equipment and maintain escape routes.
  • General Tasks: Transport mail and other goods on site, and move and set up furniture as needed.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: A Level or equivalent qualifications.
  • Health and Safety Knowledge: Basic knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
  • Maintenance Skills: Sound training in one or more of plumbing, general and ground maintenance, electrical/building maintenance, or heating systems.
  • Operational Knowledge: Basic knowledge of the operation of heating, ventilating systems, and common causes of malfunctions.
  • Security and Maintenance Systems: Knowledge of maintenance and security systems and procedures.
  • Supervisory Skills: Knowledge of supervisory skills.
  • Cleaning Methods and Standards: Understanding of appropriate cleaning methods and standards.
  • Experience: Experience of working in a school or educational establishment with children and young people.
  • D.I.Y. Experience: Considerable DIY experience.
