Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Customer Engineer - Switchgear Services to join our team in Bedford, Great Britain. As a key member of our customer-facing team, you will be responsible for delivering project site works on LV switchgear panels, investigating site issues, and completing preventative maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver project site works on LV switchgear panels, including installation, commissioning, testing, and handover to clients.
  • Investigate site issues and breakdowns, with a view to carrying out repairs as necessary.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks for all aspects of LV switchgear panels.
  • Prepare tools, test equipment, and site documentation for project/maintenance activities.
  • Communicate and interface with clients, sub-contractors, and internal departments to ensure timely progress and meet project/contract milestones.
  • Liaise with internal procurement for additional material requirements and manufacturing needs.
  • Manage site-related paperwork, ensuring documentation is signed off by all relevant parties and uploaded to client portals.
  • Ensure safe working practices on-site and adherence to relevant HSE procedures.
  • Be willing to undertake varying levels of security clearance and criminal record checking for customer sites.
  • Attend customer sites across a defined geographical area.
  • Participate in an on-call rota as defined locally.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in a site/client-facing role.
  • Recognised qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience dealing with clients/customers in a professional manner.
  • Good understanding of safe isolation and electrical safety.
  • Familiar with maintaining accurate and detailed completion of test documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fully flexible to work additional hours on request.
  • This is a site-based role with majority of work time spent on-site or travelling.
  • Full driving license.
Desirable
  • Electrical Engineering background.
  • Knowledge of PC software.
  • HND/HNC or equivalent qualification.
  • Working knowledge of electrical drawings/control systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting.
  • Time served or equivalent.
  • Electrical trade background advantageous.
  • Experience in working within an electrical service environment.
  • Familiar with all aspects of electrical panel testing and fault finding.
  • Competency in primary and secondary injection testing.
  • Competency in flash testing.
  • Good working knowledge of LV switchgear and protection devices.
  • Experience with client factory acceptance tests/site acceptance tests.
