The Role:

We're seeking a VAT Manager to oversee the day-to-day UK VAT affairs of the Corporation of Lloyd's. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and filing VAT returns, providing technical support to other functions, and serving as the primary contact for VAT-related queries.
  • Supporting cross-directorate projects and ensuring compliance with risk and governance requirements.
  • Liaising with HMRC and representing Lloyd's on VAT-related issues.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Act as principal preparer of the Corporation's quarterly VAT returns.
  • Prepare other UK VAT compliance obligations, including the annual adjustment and capital goods scheme adjustment.
  • Provide VAT support and advice to other departments on VAT issues and cross-directorate projects.
  • Maintain VAT procedures and key controls within the VAT risk and governance framework.
  • Liaise with HMRC on VAT-related issues.

Requirements:

  • Strong data analytic skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate tax-technical issues to a non-tax audience.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage conflicting views.
  • Solid knowledge of relevant VAT/GST regimes, particularly in the UK.
  • Good knowledge of partial exemption.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Accountancy or tax qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, or CTA) or equivalent experience.
