About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled VAT Assistant Manager to join our team at Reed. As a VAT Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in providing technical VAT advisory work and supporting the compliance team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the VAT Director & VAT Manager with technical VAT advisory work, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of services.
  • Manage smaller VAT advisory queries and projects, leveraging your expertise to drive results.
  • Collaborate with the compliance team to ensure seamless execution of VAT-related tasks.
  • Support the Tax Disputes & Resolution team in complex HMRC negotiations, utilizing your knowledge to drive successful outcomes.
  • Contribute to VAT training initiatives, sharing your expertise to enhance team capabilities.
  • Develop and implement VAT marketing strategies, identifying new opportunities to drive business growth.
  • Build relationships within our international network to source new work and drive business development.
  • Help develop and refine our VAT offering, targeting new sectors and technical VAT areas.
  • Quote and budget for VAT work, ensuring accurate and timely billing processes.
Requirements
  • 1-5 years' experience in providing VAT advice, with a strong understanding of VAT regulations and compliance.
  • Knowledge in areas such as property development, construction, VAT inspection, and cross-border VAT rules is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients and colleagues alike.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and billing software, with the ability to adapt to new systems.
  • University or professional qualifications in Accountancy, Law, or Tax are highly beneficial.
