About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled VAT Assistant Manager to join our team at Reed. As a VAT Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in providing technical VAT advisory work and supporting the compliance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the VAT Director & VAT Manager with technical VAT advisory work, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of services.
  • Manage smaller VAT advisory queries and projects, aligning with your skill set and expertise.
  • Advise and support the compliance team in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support to the Tax Disputes & Resolution team on complex HMRC negotiations, utilizing your knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
  • Contribute to VAT training within the firm, sharing your expertise with colleagues and ensuring a high level of technical knowledge.
  • Help develop and implement VAT marketing initiatives, promoting the firm's services to clients and prospects.
  • Build relationships within an international network to support and source new work, leveraging your professional network to drive business growth.
  • Aid in the development of the VAT offering, targeting new sectors and technical VAT areas, and identifying opportunities for growth and expansion.
  • Quote and budget for VAT work, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of services, and manage billing processes.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years' experience in providing VAT advice, with a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge in areas such as property development, construction, VAT inspection, and cross-border VAT rules is highly desirable.
  • Personable, approachable, and keen to engage in marketing initiatives, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and billing software, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies.
  • University or professional qualifications in Accountancy, Law, or Tax are highly beneficial.
