About the Role:

We are seeking an exceptional Financial Wellbeing Support Specialist to join our team at Swindon Borough Council. As a key member of our Outreach team, you will play a vital role in providing proactive support to residents who may be struggling to manage their financial obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

">
  • Outreach and Telephone Support: Conduct outreach and telephone appointments with members of the public to provide assistance managing their council tax liabilities and offer supporting administration.
  • Drops-in and Engagement: Support drop-in incentives to encourage wider identification of support services available and engage with residents to promote our programme.
  • Customer Engagement and Retention: Identify and trial techniques to enhance customer engagement, ensuring residents are aware of all support they are entitled to.
  • Coordination with Support Agencies: Signpost and coordinate closely with internal and external support agencies to ensure vulnerable customers receive the necessary support.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Deliver accurate, timely, and comprehensive management information to inform our outreach strategy.
  • Housing and Council Tax Benefit Claims: Complete applications and changes related to Housing & Council Tax benefit claims efficiently and effectively.
  • Health and Safety: Adhere to Health & Safety policy guidelines at all times.
  • Compliance and Company Policies: Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures applicable to this role.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with a minimum 5 grades A-C or levels 9 – 4, including English and Maths.
  • Experience and Performance Targets: Experience and understanding in meeting targets and developing own performance.
  • IT Proficiency: Good use of various IT systems and applications, including word, excel, access etc.
  • Communication and Analytical Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good analytical skills, and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Organisation and Planning: Good organisation and planning skills, previous experience providing good customer service, and ability to problem-solve.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Experience of working as part of a team to achieve departmental objectives and adapting to changing situations.
