About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Lead to join our team at Hunter Dunning Ltd. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the planning, management, and monitoring of design work, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and developing our compliance and safety services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead in planning, managing, and monitoring design work to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Advise architectural teams to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and provide guidance on design best practices.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve our compliance and safety services, ensuring we meet the highest standards.
  • Manage and develop Principal Designer duties under the Building Safety Act, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and deliver client-focused services, prioritizing their needs and expectations.
  • Collaborate with teams to execute strategic initiatives and meet key performance indicators, driving business growth and success.
  • Prepare reports and provide insights to senior leadership, informing business decisions and driving innovation.
  • Monitor design phases for compliance and assist in assessing Duty Holders' competence, ensuring we meet regulatory requirements.
  • Provide creative solutions to design challenges and promote sustainability practices, aligning with our company values.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and support them with Duty Holder responsibilities, ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Serve as the primary client contact, ensuring professional communication and building trust.
  • Liaise with external teams, attend project meetings, and keep project managers informed, ensuring seamless collaboration.
  • Coordinate training on building regulations and mentor staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Lead by example, managing time effectively and ensuring work meets required standards, setting a high bar for excellence.
  • Support financial management, project organization, and health and safety documentation, ensuring we meet regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in the construction industry, ideally in a compliance or health and safety role, with a strong understanding of Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex design challenges and develop creative solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and foster strong relationships with design directors, senior leadership, and architectural teams.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
  • Degree in Architecture, Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a similar field, with relevant professional certifications and memberships.
