About the Role

The Assistant Contract Manager will play a key role in supporting the West Midlands Public Health Screening Commissioning Team in the effective management of a portfolio of contracts, projects, and commissioning programme changes. This will involve working closely with the team to ensure the portfolio is planned, managed, and delivered effectively.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the team in the management of contracts, including drafting contract variations, updating contract schedules, finance, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Deputise at contract and commissioning meetings as required, providing a debrief and updates following meetings, including any matters for escalation.
  • Assist in the development of project management skills and expertise within the team.
  • Support the annual contract round, programme, and service changes, identifying and implementing solutions that arise across the screening commissioning portfolio.

Key Requirements

  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience.
  • Knowledge of commissioning and contracting of relevant NHS services.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in the public sector.
  • Able to make a connection between their work and the benefit to patients and the public.
