Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Social Work Professional to join our Children with Disability Team at Durham County Council. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children, young people, and families.

About the Role

The successful candidate will hold a degree in social work or equivalent qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have significant experience working with children, young people, and their families. They will also possess a good knowledge of how to support disabled children and implement legislation and national standards relevant to the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Newly Qualified Social Workers as a Mentor, providing guidance and advice to help them build confidence, resilience, knowledge, and skills in line with post-qualifying standards.
  • Work closely with Practice Leads and Team Managers to ensure Newly Qualified Social Workers have appropriate caseloads and ASYE progresses well.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to devise effective interventions and improve outcomes for children, young people, and families.
