Salary and Benefits:

The successful candidate will receive a salary of £21 per hour, equivalent to £39,600 per annum (based on a 37-hour week), with a 3-6 months contract.

Job Description:

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Working with Young People: The YOS Court Officer will be responsible for working with young people who offend and their families, focusing on public protection and preventing reoffending.
  1. Court Representation: Representing the Youth Offending Service in the Court setting, presenting verbal and written reports to inform Court decisions.
  1. Equality and Diversity: Ensuring that all interactions with young people and their families are conducted with sensitivity and respect for their backgrounds and needs.
  1. Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with other agencies and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for young people.
  1. Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in areas such as risk assessment and management.

Requirements:

  1. Relevant Experience: A minimum of experience in working within the Criminal Justice system, preferably with vulnerable populations.
  1. Strong Report Writing Skills: Proven ability to write clear and concise reports, both verbally and in writing.
  1. Excellent Communication Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with colleagues, young people, and their families.
  1. Ability to Work Under Pressure: Demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure, managing competing priorities and deadlines.

  1. Assessment and Intervention: Ability to conduct thorough assessments and interventions to address the needs of young people who offend.
