About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Acute Medicine Consultant to join our team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. As a key member of our Acute Medical Department, you will provide clinical leadership and expertise in the care of patients with acute medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical opinion in a range of problems during the acute unselected medical take
  • Take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients as an independent practitioner
  • Supervise and appraise doctors in training, and provide coaching and mentoring as needed
  • Participate in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the education and training of medical staff, and participate in the development of educational programs
Requirements
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Acute Internal Medicine or General Internal Medicine via one of the following: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR), MRCP (UJ), or an equivalent qualification
  • Ability to teach clinical and practical skills, and to supervise, appraise, coach, and mentor doctors in training
  • Ability to form constructive and effective professional relationships with patients and staff
