Job Overview

The Acquisition of Land/Rights in Land is a critical function at Bruton Knowles. We are seeking an experienced Land Rights Technician/Liaison Officer to join our team.

About the Role:

This position involves undertaking the Acquisition of Land/Rights in Land and carrying out Compensation work on major Utility and Infrastructure projects. The role will be predominantly field-based, requiring excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To deliver high-quality services to clients, colleagues, and other business teams as directed, ensuring all correspondence is authorized before sending.
  • To achieve set fee income through Performance Reviews, working closely with more experienced colleagues where necessary.
  • To manage time utilization for the benefit of the team and maximize efficiency.
  • To provide technical skills and assistance to the team, proactively engaging with landowners to secure required consents.
  • To keep clients informed and advise them on practical matters affecting land.
  • To complete land referencing, including finding owners and occupiers of land, and deal with landowner complaints regarding on-site activities.
  • To arrange site visits for serving notices, undertaking record of conditions, and conducting site meetings.
  • To assist the team in settling compensation claims and maintaining accurate stakeholder records, tracking progress, and providing clear and concise records of condition.
  • To work within client-set timeframes and targets to ensure timely delivery of programs.
  • To work closely with project teams, often operating directly from the project/client site.
  • To build and maintain personal knowledge and skills through company-run training.
  • To assist in delivering specific activities, including on-site work such as records of condition, and to work with high attention to detail.
  • To keep appropriate records of current work required by the team and firm and to ensure that all work is stored on the Worksite system.
  • To maintain accurate time records on Changepoint, meeting targets set in Performance Reviews.
  • To attend training sessions and team meetings and to maintain an appropriate schedule of training needs and achievements.
  • To ensure Quality assurance and Health and Safety standards are met.
  • To deal with all clients and members of the public professionally.
  • To represent Bruton Knowles both internally and externally.

About You:

We seek candidates with suitable transferrable experience and skills to facilitate delivery of land referencing, negotiating land rights, and dealing with compensation claims.

Candidates should have developed relevant experience in Land Rights related work within the Utilities sector. Knowledge or experience in land, along with technical administration skills, is preferred.

The job requires someone who can organize their workload and responsibilities effectively, prioritize tasks consistently, and meet deadlines, providing a platform for the team to operate successfully.
