Temporary Finance Officer/Admin - Accounts Payable

Triumph Consultants Ltd is seeking a skilled Finance Officer/Admin to join our team on a temporary basis. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for controlling expenditure through the end-to-end accounts payable process for a range of suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the maintenance of the accounts payable ledger for designated suppliers, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  2. Ensure the Purchase Order process is adhered to, collaborating with procurement colleagues and suppliers to improve the process.
  3. Enforce anti-fraud controls in purchasing activities, ensuring only valid commitments to spend and payments are made.
  4. Process and control weekly BACS runs, ensuring timely and accurate Fostering payments.
  5. Reconcile the accounts payable ledger, investigating reasons for reconciling items.
  6. Produce and present relevant KPIs for the AP/AR Manager, completing month-end tasks.
  7. Ensure accurate P-card coding and first-line reconciliation of the P-Card control account.
  8. Support other finance functions, including financial accounting and reconciliations.
  9. Ensure timely payment of supplier invoices in line with agreed payment terms.
  10. Develop effective relationships to identify invoices requiring cost apportionment and support process streamlining.
Requirements:
  1. Studying for or holding an entry-level Accounting Qualification.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  1. Minimum 12 months recent experience in a similar role, preferably in a public sector organization.
  2. Prior experience working within and supporting a finance function.
  3. Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
  4. Experience working on and interrogating mainframe finance systems.
  5. Experience with high-value invoicing.
  6. Previous training on fraud prevention.
  7. Experience gained across a range of accounting disciplines to facilitate flexible working.
  8. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft packages or equivalent.
