Senior Safeguarding and Pastoral Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Safeguarding and Pastoral Specialist to join our team based in Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border. This is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of £35,000 - £40,000 per annum.
About the RoleThis role involves developing and implementing effective safeguarding and pastoral practices within outstanding schools. You will be responsible for ensuring that all policies and procedures are aligned with statutory guidelines, CQC, and Ofsted regulations.
You will work closely with school staff to provide relevant training and support to ensure that all children receive the best possible care and education. Your expertise will also be utilized to advise on strategic development of behaviour, pastoral, wellbeing, and preparing for adulthood offers.
Key Responsibilities- To develop and implement individual and site practice around behaviour and safeguarding, ensuring alignment with statutory guidelines, CQC, and Ofsted regulations.
- To coordinate the implementation of Attendance Policy.
- To provide relevant training to staff through Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- To ensure compliance with relevant reports and audits, working closely with the school business manager.
- To communicate effectively with parents/carers, employees, agencies, and local authorities on child progress and intervention strategies.
- To exercise a key role in advising Service Leads on strategic development of behaviour, pastoral, wellbeing, and preparing for adulthood offers.
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English & Maths.
- DSL training level 3 or above, with experience working as a DSL.
- Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or working with children and young people (Desirable).
- Proven track record of excellent creative and structured pastoral interventions within special needs environments.
- Experience of holding responsibility for policy implementation and turning it into successful practice.
- Effective communication skills to engage diverse audiences and manage relationships with various external agencies.
- Successful management of complex scenarios, conflict resolution, and experience using effective behaviour and teaching strategies.
- Understanding of ASD intervention and support strategies (TEACCH, attention Autism, etc.).
- Experience of OFSTED & CQC inspections and following action planning.
