The role of a Tutor in an SEN setting requires resilience, confidence, and the ability to develop positive relationships with students. The ideal candidate will have experience working with pupils who present with a range of additional needs, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMHS) and special educational needs including ASC, MLD, and ADHD.
In this role, you will plan and deliver tailored 1:1 sessions for students with varying abilities, teaching Maths, English, Science, and Personal Skills. You will work closely with pupils aged across KS3 - KS4 and develop differentiated lesson plans based on individual learning needs.
A strong understanding of Key Stage 2 curriculum and experience working in an SEN or PRU setting are highly desirable. The successful candidate will be responsible for maximising engagement and attainment through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver 1:1 sessions for students with a range of additional needs
- Work closely with pupils aged across KS3 - KS4, teaching Maths, English, Science, and Personal Skills
- Differentiate for a range of abilities, working alongside EHCPs to inform planning
- Develop positive relationships with students to help maximise engagement and attainment
Requirements:
- An enhanced DBS certificate (or be happy to apply for a new one)
- Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks
- A QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
- The legal right to work in the UK
