About the Role

This Technical Design and Development Expert position offers a unique opportunity to work on high-profile projects within the nuclear defence engineering sector. Based at Devonport, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical handling systems, working closely with our team to deliver complex infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  1. Develop detailed technical designs, specifications, and documentation for mechanical handling systems.
  2. Lead the creation of 3D models, 2D CAD drawings, and BOMs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical queries and implement design changes.
  4. Translate existing design records into 3D models, enhancing the overall design process.
  5. Manage and maintain project registers, tracking technical queries, change requests, and design reviews.
  6. Provide duration estimates for design tasks to support project planning and execution.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Proven experience in mechanical design, including new or modified structures and systems.
  • Knowledge of engineering works, including mechanical handling, mechanical or electrical systems/services.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor or similar software for model production.
  • Experience using MathCAD for drafting technical calculations.
