Job Title: Apprentice Civil Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Apprentice Civil Design Engineer to join our team at HDR. As a key member of our Civil Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and managing civil engineering projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and manage civil engineering projects, including data centres, commercial and corporate offices, finance, education, hotels and leisure, and mixed-use developments.
  • Work with engineering teams to create detailed designs, plans, and specifications.
  • Support project managers in undertaking tasks on a wide range of projects.
  • Monitor resource allocation and define monthly Civil 3D/CAD requirements and two-weekly engineering workload forecasts.
  • Carry out engineering concept design to detailed design, tender, and contract on-site supervision to completion.
  • Ensure all design projects and reports are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard.
  • Client and design team liaison, assisting in the preparation of fee proposals, financial control of projects, and undertaking business development.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or relevant subject.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in designing and managing civil engineering projects within a design consultancy.
  • Experience of monitoring contract staff or third-party appointments would be desirable.
  • Able to undertake computer modelling, organise and direct the production of Civils 3D and CAD/Revit drawings.
  • Good knowledge and use of appropriate project and design analysis software.
  • Confident, persuasive, and conciliatory when dealing with Statutory Authorities and local councils.
What We Offer:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, MicroStation, InRoads, and other civil engineering software as appropriate.
  • Project Engineering and Project Management experience.
