We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Domestic Abuse Caseworker to join our team at Victim Support. As a key member of our Northern PIC team, you will play a vital role in providing support and advocacy to victims of domestic abuse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pro-active, short to medium term crisis intervention services to victims of domestic abuse
- Develop individual safety plans to meet clients' needs as identified in the needs and risk assessment
- Advocate, emotionally and practically support, and provide information to victims, including exploration of legal and civil options, housing, health, and finance
- Participate in multi-agency meetings, representing the client's voice and following up on actions agreed in meetings
Requirements:
- A good understanding of domestic abuse and its impact
- Knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management
- An understanding of Safeguarding issues and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues
- Theoretical, practical, and procedural knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies for victims of domestic abuse
- Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework
- Experience of managing a complex caseload, prioritizing work effectively
- Strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations
- Good communication, negotiation, and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals
