About the Role:

This Behaviour Support Specialist will be working with students who are unable to access mainstream schools due to their Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will help students overcome barriers to learning and behaviour by providing guidance and support for their social and emotional development.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner.
  • Build strong relationships with students, providing guidance and support for their social and emotional development.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students by adhering to school policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with teachers to support the learning and engagement of students in lessons.
  • Implement personalised behaviour support plans and targeted interventions to help students manage their emotions.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, SENCOs, and mental health professionals, to ensure the best outcomes for students.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience as a Prison Officer or in a similarly challenging environment.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach when working with students with complex needs.
  • A passion for helping young people with SEMH challenges achieve their potential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and maintain a flexible, proactive attitude.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Salary: £85 per day
