About the Role

We are seeking an organised, self-motivated and approachable individual to join our friendly team in Dermatology as an admin and clerical staff member for a busy Outpatient department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary administrative support to all clinical staff, primarily consultants, and all patients under their care, including covering reception, correspondence support and other administrative duties as required.
  • Act as a first point of contact for patients entering the department on reception, checking them in and helping them with any queries.
  • Work closely with the wider administrative team and clinical staff to ensure patients are admitted within local and national access targets, expediting appointments and procedures as required.
  • Assist the Outpatient bookings team with processing new referrals via the GP e-Referral system (ERS), registering patients, making outpatient appointments and ensuring patient details are correct.
  • Maintain accurate and current filing systems and electronic databases, ensuring letters, clinical reports, diagnostic test results and other relevant correspondence are filed in the correct patient notes in a timely manner.
Person Specification

We are looking for someone with good interpersonal skills in oral and written communication, who is able to communicate in a professional manner across a range of services and professionals. Applicants should have a flexible approach to work, be able to work as part of the wider administrative team and use their own initiative.

The successful candidate will have 5 GCSEs, experience working with the public and strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Previous administrative experience, experience of working with sensitive data and previous healthcare experience are desirable.
