Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a GI Cancer Care Specialist, providing exceptional patient care and support throughout their journey with gastrointestinal cancer. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with consultants, pathologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work autonomously, and a strong understanding of gastrointestinal cancer pathways. You will be expected to provide expert advice and guidance to patients and their families, ensuring they are fully informed and empowered to make decisions about their care.

In this role, you will also have the opportunity to develop and lead service improvement projects, contributing to the ongoing development of our GI cancer service. Your expertise and experience will be invaluable in driving innovation and excellence in patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical advice and guidance to patients and their families on gastrointestinal cancer diagnosis and treatment options.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care coordination and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Develop and lead service improvement projects to enhance the quality and efficiency of our GI cancer service.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in gastrointestinal cancer management and stay current with best practices and research developments.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (Level 1) qualification.
  • Non-medical prescriber qualifications or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience working in a relevant specialty, preferably in a cancer or palliative care setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality care and improving patient outcomes.
