We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD researcher to join our team at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a fully funded PhD studentship, investigating the efficiency of hydrogen generation in electrolysis.
About the Project
The project aims to improve the efficiency of hydrogen production through electrolysis, a crucial step in the transition to sustainable energy sources. The researcher will investigate the processes behind bubble formation, growth, and separation, and develop novel electrode structures to enhance hydrogen production.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on electrolysis and hydrogen production, with a focus on bubble nucleation, growth, and separation
- Design and fabricate novel electrode structures to enhance hydrogen production
- Characterize the surface properties of electrodes using advanced microscopy techniques
- Develop models to predict bubble formation and growth
Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants should have a good 2.1 degree in an Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related subject. The successful candidate will have excellent research skills, a strong understanding of electrolysis and hydrogen production, and excellent communication skills.
