Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Nurse to join our renal team at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have experience of renal care and excellent interpersonal skills.

Main Duties

Under the supervision of the Sister/Charge Nurse, the successful candidate will be accountable for the total provision, organisation and direction of the nursing care for patients under their care. This will involve assessing, planning and implementing specialised packages of nursing care to patients as the named nurse.

The successful candidate will ensure that care is patient-focused and that patient dignity and privacy are maintained at all times. They will also act under the direction of the registered nurse in charge of the nursing team in setting standards and expectations in the quality of care.

The successful candidate will take an active role in maintaining effective communication with all disciplines, patients and relatives. They will represent patients at multi-disciplinary meetings, ensuring that their needs are assertively presented.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • Registered General Nurse qualification
  • Experience of renal care and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate with patients and relatives
  • Ability to represent patients at multi-disciplinary meetings

The successful candidate will also have desirable criteria, including:

  • Diploma or degree in nursing
  • Competence in additional technical skills, such as venepuncture and cannulation
  • Previous experience in renal nursing
  • Acute NHS hospital experience
