About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at Second Step. As a Recovery Navigator, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals struggling with their mental health and wellbeing in primary care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building Trusting Relationships: Establish and maintain strong, trusting relationships with clients, demonstrating empathy and understanding to help them achieve their recovery goals.
  • Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments to inform clients' recovery plans, identifying areas of strength and need, and developing tailored support strategies.
  • Self-Management Support: Teach clients to use self-management tools, such as Wellness Recovery Action Plans, to empower them to take control of their mental health.
  • System Navigation: Assist clients in navigating the mental health system, connecting them with relevant services and resources to meet their needs.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mental health professionals, social care staff, and GPs, to ensure seamless support and coordination.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience in supporting individuals with mental health needs, including experience with client support plans and risk assessments.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Approach: A strong understanding of recovery and trauma-informed approaches, with a commitment to promoting holistic wellbeing.
