Job Summary

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, where you will have the chance to develop new initiatives and manage change. You will work autonomously to deliver specialist clinical care, undertaking comprehensive assessments and developing treatment plans for patients using evidence-based guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialist respiratory care to patients with complex conditions, including COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, OSA, and ILD.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop treatment plans for patients using evidence-based guidelines.
  • Work autonomously to deliver specialist clinical care, making decisions and prioritizing actions as needed.
  • Develop and maintain team working, demonstrating specialist clinical expertise and physical assessment skills.
  • Perform arterial / arterialised blood gas sampling and other specialist clinical skills as required.

Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Respiratory Nurse Specialist who meets the following criteria:

  • RN Level 1 registration with the NMC.
  • Post-registration respiratory qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Teaching/Mentorship qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Possession of a degree or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with respiratory patients and in a community setting.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop new initiatives and manage change.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to motivate self and others.
  • Ability to make decisions and prioritise actions.
  • Ability to be proactive and resourceful.
  • Working knowledge of clinical governance and evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to develop and maintain team working.
  • Ability to demonstrate specialist clinical expertise, including physical assessment, spirometry, developing self-management action plans.
  • Ability to perform arterial / arterialised blood gas sampling.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Sound working knowledge of guidelines in the field of respiratory care.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Knowledge awareness of recent NHS policies/DoH agenda.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the holistic needs of the client group.
  • Computer skills, Word, data-bases email, internet.
  • Undertake NMP Training.
  • An eagerness to contribute to quality assurance and audit.
