Structural Engineer with Design Experience

We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer with design experience to join our award-winning construction business in Leeds. This exciting opportunity comes with a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as a hybrid working arrangement.

About the Role

This role will see you working as part of our Leeds-based structural engineering team, focusing on a diverse portfolio of projects in the UK and internationally. As a Structural Engineer with design experience, you will be responsible for leading the structural design on projects, with opportunities for further progression.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Carry out detailed design calculations to up-to-date Eurocodes.
  2. Manage the technicians undertaking detailed design drawings and preparing specifications for tender purposes.
  3. Supervise and mentor junior members of the team.
  4. Assist with management of all team projects, resources, and making key commercial decisions on fee spend.
  5. Collaborate with design teams to deliver structural design solutions to agreed timescales and budgets.
  6. Carry out structural surveys of buildings and structures and provide advice on any issues that may arise.
  7. Analyse and report on structural defects and remediation if required.
  8. Present designs and concepts to key clients and shape the direction of the project.
  9. Oversee the production of detailed design drawings and preparing specifications for tender purposes.
  10. Use BIM tools to coordinate design with other design disciplines and specialists.
  11. Assist with assembling procurement contracts and the tender process.
  12. Post-contract: fulfil either a novated design role or maintain client-side monitoring role throughout the works.
  13. Visit sites during the construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to contractors.
Requirements
  • Building structures design experience.
  • Experience as a structural engineer on major projects.
  • Design knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects and using British, US, and European codes of practice.
  • Experience using common analysis software (including or similar to CSC Fastrak, TEDDS, ROBOT, ETABS, and SAFE).
  • A Bachelor's degree BEng/BSc or Master's degree MEng/MSc in a relevant discipline.
  • Taking active steps to progress towards Chartership and continual professional development.
