Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Resilience Engineer to join our Platform team at Starling Bank. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building and maintaining systems for ensuring platform resilience, scalability, observability, and incident response.

Job Description

This role involves:

  • BUILDING the systems needed to ensure platform resilience using cutting-edge techniques of observability and reliability engineering.
  • ENHANCING our incident response capability through tooling and practice improvements.
  • COLLABORATING with other teams to establish key practices in their own development lifecycle.
  • PARTICIPATING in chaos experimentation to improve resilience.

The successful candidate will be comfortable coding in at least one major language (Java, Go, Python, JavaScript), have experience working in the Cloud (AWS and GCP), and be passionate about reducing toil via automation.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A deep understanding of infrastructure as code and cloud-native technologies.
  • Experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Sentry.
  • Knowledge of Linux, networking, containerization, distributed systems, and immutable infrastructure concepts.
  • Familiarity with measuring with indicators and objectives (SLIs / SLOs).
