We are seeking an accomplished Leading Research Expert in Space Sector Resilience to join our team at Imperial College London. This is a full-time position for one year, with the possibility of extension.

The role will involve coordinating our research effort in the space sector and societal resilience, leading on our contribution to the UK government's national space strategy, business development, and teaching related to this area.

You will work closely with the School of Convergence Science (Space, Security and Telecom) to conduct research on the role of space in acquiring and operating critical national infrastructure, including developing a personal research program, managing research projects, and writing successful funding bids.

In collaboration with the Institute for Security, Science and Technology (ISST) and the Centre for Active Resilience and Security (CARS), you will plan and lead research on societal resilience to address natural/bio, social, environmental, cyber, and physical threat vectors.

This is an excellent opportunity to identify opportunities in the education, research, and development sectors, and to formulate relevant programs and their delivery.

You will also be responsible for teaching and examining courses at various levels, from undergraduate to higher research degrees, using lectures, seminars, coursework, tutorials, and personal supervision.

  • A PhD qualification in Engineering, with expertise in areas relevant to the space sector and PNT, or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a research environment, along with publications in refereed journals, and experience in business development, particularly in the space sector and infrastructure resilience.
  • Knowledge of societal resilience as it applies to critical national infrastructure, the threat landscape, and methods for addressing threats.
  • Familiarity with policy formulation and effective communication with stakeholders.
