Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Welcome to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, a leading provider of mental healthcare services.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our team on Lavender suite, a 16-bedded inpatient ward for female patients.

As a key member of our team, you will develop and deliver occupational therapy provision to a designated caseload, focusing on occupational performance, complex mental health presentations, risk management, and evaluating outcomes aligned to personalised care plans.

You will implement and facilitate individual and group programmes of clinical intervention in collaboration with the senior OT, activity workers, and other professionals for effective recovery and discharge.

Whilst based on Lavender ward, as a member of our wider occupational therapy service, there may be occasions when flexibility of location is required to accommodate clinical need. Post holders will be able to agree working patterns that support maximum clinical impact and support for the team and service users.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be able to use their professional skills and knowledge to work effectively across the service. You will also display ability to work on your own initiative and be a committed team player.

You will be joining a hard-working multi-disciplinary team dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for service users and carers. You will be involved in a variety of professional roles, including supporting the day-to-day decision making on the ward, designated supervision responsibilities, leadership of various individual projects, quality initiatives, and service developments that support the trust strategy.

This position would be ideal for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with a vision to develop their career and clinical expertise within an acute mental health environment. The post requires experience within a mental health setting and an awareness of risk management. You will be expected to utilise specialist functional assessments and interventions utilising the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO).

Our trust serves over 70,000 people each year and offers a range of mental healthcare services across Birmingham and Solihull. We are a team of compassionate, inclusive, and committed people working together to provide excellent care to support our community.

Estimated salary: £32,780 - £43,041 per annum, depending on experience. Please note that this is a national average salary estimate and may vary based on individual circumstances.

We highly recommend viewing the attached job description and person specification for further information about the main responsibilities and essential requirements of the role.
