Job Overview

MacGregor Black is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Human Resources to lead our Consumer Goods Business in Cambridgeshire. As a strategic partner and change agent, you will be responsible for building and delivering the people capability needed to meet the requirements of our customers, our people, and our business.

This is a permanent role that requires a strong track record in leading HR teams and delivering results in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. You will be responsible for contributing to the development of the People & Culture Strategy and developing and delivering an aligned business unit People Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the business unit's People & Culture team, motivating and developing the team to deliver best-in-class services.
  • Lead all aspects of employee relations, both collective and individual, ensuring employees are managed fairly, and business requirements are met in a legally compliant way that protects the company's reputation.
  • Create a climate where our people feel connected and committed to the business, becoming genuine advocates for Hilton Foods.
  • Coach and mentor our teams on all aspects of people-related matters, including leadership skills, strengthening leadership through coaching.
  • Work collaboratively with the business unit management team and Regional P&C management to ensure appropriate development and management of pay and benefits.
  • Continually develop and oversee performance management to support a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure resourcing, learning & development, and HR systems meet local requirements, so the needs of our people and business are met.
  • Protect the Hilton Foods UK business by ensuring the development and retention of key talent through capability management, succession planning, and engagement.
  • Collaborate with Health & Safety to demonstrate visible leadership in driving the right safety culture, supporting the wellbeing of our people through the development and delivery of wellbeing programs, initiatives, and occupational health and return-to-work processes.
  • Ensure inclusion and diversity are embedded in our business and support the effective implementation of Group and Regional initiatives.
  • Utilise our global HR system, with the support of UK People & Culture shared services and reporting and analytics capability, to drive improvements in ways of working, EVP, and business performance.
  • Champion and ensure compliance with people-related ESG goals and requirements, such as modern-day slavery regulations.

Requirements:

  • Extensive HR Leadership Experience: Proven track record in leading HR teams and delivering results in a fast-paced, high-performance environment, preferably within manufacturing or a similar sector.
  • Strategic Vision: The ability to think long-term and develop People strategies that align with overall business goals.
  • Change Management Expertise: Experience in driving cultural and organisational change and the ability to lead through transformation.
  • People-centric Approach: A genuine passion for people development and an ability to foster an inclusive, high-performance culture where employees feel connected, valued, and empowered.
  • Employee Relations Knowledge: Strong experience in managing both collective and individual employee relations in a compliant, fair, and effective manner.
  • Performance Management: A solid understanding of how to oversee and continually improve performance management processes to drive a high-performance culture.
  • Strong Communication and Influence: The ability to work effectively at all levels of the organisation, influencing stakeholders and building strong relationships across the business.
  • Health & Safety and Wellbeing Focus: A commitment to promoting a strong safety culture and supporting employee wellbeing through tailored initiatives.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Comfortable with using HR systems, analytics, and reporting to inform decision-making and drive business improvements.
